“I’m not wearing a baseball cap.”

Domenico pushed at Seth’s arm and moved his head away from the disgrace of a hat, knocking it out of Seth’s hand.

Seth took a deep breath as if he was the reasonable one in this relationship. “There’s cameras everywhere in malls as big as this one.”

“What about me? Should I wear a hat?” Mark asked, excitedly shifting in the back of the car. It must have had something to do with the fact that he’d been promised he could buy whatever he wanted, within reason. He barely had any decent clothes, and Dom didn’t want his protégé walking around in cheap clothes and shoes that would fall apart within a few months.

Domenico leaned back in the seat and glanced at Mark’s rosy cheeks, still smooth like a girl’s. Domenico would make a real man out of him soon. Taking the boy in has been a spur-of-the-moment decision, but he already knew Seth had been right when he talked him into it. Even before Mark had been kidnapped, Domenico had felt uneasy about letting go of him. It would have been like selling someone a dog after already teaching it some tricks.

“None of us are wearing baseball caps. They’re a disgrace to hats.”

Seth groaned and stepped out of the car, letting in the smell of gas and motor oil, which clung to every single surface in the vast multi-storey parking lot. “Fine. Let’s just hope our faces aren’t plastered all over the darknet, and we can do this stupid shopping in peace.”

“Shopping!” Mark yelped in excitement and burst out of the vehicle, eager as if he was a puppy going on its first walk in days. He brushed some imaginary dust off his stinky T-shirt. “I for one, don’t want to look like a hobo when we go to a restaurant. We will go to a restaurant, right?” he asked, glancing at Dom like the said puppy begging for scraps.

Seth rolled his eyes. “We’re all hobos. We have no home.”

Gay Book Reviews

“There so many swoon worthy moments in this book.(…)Not only did we see growth, but we got to experience the growing pains with them. There was the action that we’ve come to expect from this series as well as some truly tender moments. ”
